A nirvana for niche perfumes and pretty bed linen ...
As a child, I used to stay at my granny's house in rural Wiltshire and recall being fascinated by the many different bedcovers she had. One was something called an 'eiderdown' another was a 'counterpane.' For a kid used to a single Spiderman duvet, it looked like something out of a costume drama. Since then I've always had a soft spot for a few extra layers on top of my normal bedcovers. (Living in a cold country you need them anyway, right?) My current bedspread boasts a floral quilt from Andrew Martin which has jazzed up my M&S bedsheets no end. So if like me, you know your thread counts and are generally partial to a nice bit of bedding, Cotton and Cologne - who sell fine fragrance and textiles - will be right up your street.
If their peppermint and gold colour shop front isn't enough to entice you in, their gorgeous wares will make your home look (and smell) like something out of Tatler Magazine...
For scent lovers, this place stocks famous names on the luxe perfumery circuit such as Miller Harris (smoky, earthy 'English' scents), Annick Goutal (old-school romantic florals), E Coudray (jazzy numbers from the 1920s and 30s) and Ortigia (Sicilian citruses) as well as Cotton and Cologne's own brand of pretty fragrances and candles.
It's a great place for wedding and baby gifts too. And when you're done shopping you can head down Marylebone High Street for Turkish eggs at The Providores (which are out of this world...)
